On Thursday March 10, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding a video recorded incident that was being shared on social media.
The video was recorded at a local Catholic high school in Louisiana during school hours. In the video one student can be seen throwing cotton and whipping a black student with a belt. The actions that were recorded led TPSO detectives to intervene.
Detectives met with the parents of the victim and an investigation began.
As a conclusion of the investigation, on March 15, sheriffs announced the arrest of a Vandebilt High School student.
Detectives arrested a 15 year old, 9th grade student for simple battery and hate crime. The student was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Juvenile Justice Center.
