Elijah Precciely, a 14-year-old from Baton Rouge, LA, is the youngest person to get a full scholarship from Southern University.

He is now trying to acquire as much knowledge as he can as he finishes his last semesters at the HBCU.

At 8 years old, Elijah, a junior at Southern, was home-schooled by his mother as he studied college level courses. These included physics, biology, and business.

In 2019, when he was 11, Elijah became a full-time student at the university and received the J.S. Clark Presidential Scholar Award.

Elijah has a double major of physics and chemical engineering. He hosts a talk show weekly and has submitted applications for five patents for thngs he has invented.

“I don’t look for just breaking records. I look for changing lives…,” the teen said.

“My first priority is to be a shining light to help others. The second priority is to make sure that I help people like me and people who want to connect with me,” he added.

His father, Pastor Steven Precciely, stated that he hopes other brown and black children see that you don’t have to go to other colleges to be seen as a “genius.”

“There’s greatness right here at an HBCU. There’s greatness here. You can shine and you can get a great education here and encourage them to do likewise.”

Elijah is planning to graduate in May 2023.
