Over 130 convictions related to the testimony of ex-undercover NYPD officer, Joseph Franco, have been tossed out.

On Thursday, a judge in the Bronx threw the cases out after many dismissals, regarding the “disgraced” former officer.

The felony cases that will be dropped are against 133 defendants who were charged between 2011 and 2015.

Franco is now expected to face trial in Manhattan for setting up innocent victims. He did so by saying that he saw them selling drugs which wasn’t true.

Franco was terminated by the NYPD in April 2020. In 2019, the former officer’s cases had been reviewed subsequent to him being charged with perjury, official misconduct, and other offenses.

Right now, 257 convictions that involved Franco’s testimony, have been dismissed. Additonally, 250 more are being analyzed.

Prosecutors have said that Franco was a Narcotics detective in Mahattan and had lied on official records.

Two defendants had been serving time in state prison as a result of Franco’s testimony. They were still locked up when Franco’s misdeeds were brought to light.

The former cop has pleaded not guilty. He will appear again in court on Monday.
