On Thursday, the National Transportation Safety Board said that a 13 year old was driving the pickup truck that killed nine people in a fiery crash Tuesday.

According to reports, the teen was behind the wheel of the 2007 Dodge 2500 pickup when it crossed the center line and crashed head on into a 2017 van.

The Ford Transit van was transporting a men and women’s golf team from University of the Southwest. Of those, six students and a golf coach died in the crash. Two students were transported to a hospital in critical condition.

The 13 year old driver and the passenger in the truck also died in the crash.

It was said that the front left tire on the truck the teen was driving was a spare and that it had blew prior to the collision.

Although it is unclear how fast the vehicles were driving both were said to be driving at high speeds.

DPS officials identified the victims as golf coach Tyler James, 26, and golf players Mauricio Sanchez, 19, Travis Garcia, 19, Jackson Zinn, 22, Karisa Raines, 21, Laci Stone, 18, and Tiago Sousa, 18. Heinrich Siemens, 38, also died and was the passenger inside the truck with the teen. The 13 year old’s name has not been released.

A memorial was held on campus Wednesday at the course where the team practices.
