10-Year-Old Who Was Arrested Receives Probation, Must Write Two-Page Essay On Kobe Bryant For Public Urination

A 10-year-old boy who had been apprehended by officers in Senatobia, Mississippi, for public urination has been given 3 months of probation. In addition to that, he must compose a two-page essay on Kobe Bryant.

On Aug. 10, the child was arrested and officers received backlash. The incident even led to one of the officers being let go after detaining the child.

The boy, who was 10 at the time, had gotten behind his mom’s vehicle to urinate. He did this as she had been inside of the district attorney’s office, his mother had stated.

She added that the first officer was going to let her son go with a warning. However, when a lieutenant arrived to the scene, the boy was put in the back of a patrol car and transported to jail.

“He did not expose himself. There was no public restroom available, and he went to the bathroom behind a car. Discreetly,” stated the child’s attorney.

The 10-year-old reported that he had been placed in a jail cell. Later, he was charged with child in need of services and was free to go with his mother.

Right after the apprehension, the department noted that one of the officers was no longer with the department and that other officers would be disciplined.

They added that the child should not have been transported to jail since his mother was there at the time of the occurrence as a viable option.
