10 year old Jaikeem Mitchell from Duncanville, Texas is making headlines after completing the fourth grade from a gifted and talented program.

Mitchell started playing flag football, at age 5, as a running back for the Duncanville Tigers. He has severe asthma that is triggered by allergies and causes him to miss at least 10 days of school.

In 2019 he made his first junior Olympic appearance at age 6 in the 4/100 meter relay. In 2021, after the Covid pandemic Mitchell began running track again and became the second fastest in the nation for the 100 & 200 meter.

Then in 2022, Mitchell ran the 400 meter and won a rare triple gold in the 100m, 200m and 400m. He also broke the 100m national record 12.97 that was set back in 2012 with a 12.86.

On June 2 Mitchell will participate in the regional qualifier meet at Sam Houston high school for the 100m & 200m finals. He is also trying to make way to the AAU Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa July 31- August 5.

A GoFundMe has been created for those who would like to help with travel and accommodations to Iowa.
