On July 22, at about 4:40 p.m., officers with the Wylie Police Department had gotten a report of several individuals that were in the water in the East Fort of the Trinity River, close to Lake Lavon and Lake Ray Hubbard.
When first responders arrived to the scene, they assisted witnesses with retrieving three victims from the water. Two of those people were taken to a medical facility in stable condition. The other victim received medical attention at the location and was released.
A fourth victim was still being sought as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were called out to close the Lavon Dam gates to lessen the water flow and help in recovering that person.
A diver from Garland Fire Department’s swift water team recovered the body of the fourth victim, a 28-year-old male, at about 8:11 p.m. His identity has not been released.
