Dallas police shot and killed a man that was holding a woman hostage with a knife inside a tent on Friday evening.
Around 6:45 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance call on the 5800 block of Beltline Rd. Upon arriving they learned that a male suspect had committed aggravated assault with a knife to family.
Officers then found the male suspect, whose name has not been released, in a wooded area inside a tent with a woman. The man had a knife and attempted to walk towards officers after being told to drop his weapon.
Police opened fire striking the man. He was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. The female hostahe was also transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
No officers were injured during this incident. Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia says he will hold a press conference on Monday.
