Garland Police Officer Arrested In Farmers Branch for Intoxication Assault

A Garland police officer was arrested for intoxication assault after he hit a woman with his vehicle causing serious bodily injury.

The incident happened on January 1 in Farmers Branch when Garland police officer Louis Jerel Ellis,32 was driving intoxicated and struck Ja’Meka Brown,25.

According to reports Ellis was driving intoxicated when he jumped a curb and struck Brown. The victims sister, Jaquita says she was thrown about 20 feet when struck.

Jaquita says the officer did not come to check on her sister.

“He was still in his car making calls, then came over to us saying he didn’t hit her.”

Brown was transported to Parkland hospital where she still remains hospitalized in ICU.

Ellis was arrested and charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of Farmers Branch’s investigation.
