Desoto ISD Cancels All Classes Friday

Desoto ISD has announced that they will be cancelling all classes Friday following a disturbing video released.

The incident occurred Wednesday at Desoto West Middle School. A video was released showing a student hitting a substitute teacher in the head with a chair and the teacher throwing the chair back.

On the video the substitute teacher was seen bleeding from the head.

At this time it is unclear what provoked the incident. Desoto ISD and Police have also said it is unclear what criminal charges would be filed.

Desoto ISD is investigating the incident and says they are working to determine what led up to the incident.

Desoto ISD released a statement saying, “it doesn’t condone the behavior in the video and that “all parties” would be held accountable”.

Thy have since cancelled schools in the district and asked staff to come in and review district policies.

When students return from spring break on March 21 they will have the following actions in place.

-Every school will have staff monitoring hallways and common areas.

-Employees with the district’s student support services department will now move from district HQ to middle school campuses to provide faster response.

-Students will not be allowed to use cell phones, earbuds and headphones during the school day.

  1. The teacher needs to file chargeson the student . I would file a suit against the parentsand school system better controlyour kids

  2. I watched it these kids are so disrespectful and it starts at home the teacher was bleeding 🩸 and he should file charges I don’t care what was said u don’t throw chairs period point blank
