An investigation is underway after a Dallas man shot his son in the stomach for misbehaving Wednesday night.
Officers responded to a shooting call, in the Hamilton Park area, on the 8400 block of Ellery Drive. When they arrived they found a 13 year old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
Emergency crews transported the teen to Children’s Medical Center where he is expected to survive.
According to reports the teen was outside the home throwing rocks at the door while his 53 year old father Randy Edwards was inside cooking dinner.
Edwards asked his son to stop multiple times before grabbing a gun and firing a round through the front door. He struck his son and then fled the scene before officers could arrive.
Edwards was later arrested and taken to Dallas County Jail for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond is set at $75,000.
