R.Kelly was attacked by a fellow inmate inside his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago Wednesday.
According to reports Kelly was laying in his bed inside his cell when the inmate walked in and started punching him repeatedly.
Guards broke up the fight quickly and the inmate later apologized and said the reason for beating up Kelly was because he was upset that they had been placed on lockdown a couple of times due to protest regarding Kelly.
Kelly was checked out by a doctor and sustained no injuries in the attack.
Kelly is facing charges in New York including racketeering and violations of the Mann Act, which prohibits sex trafficking across state lines. He’s also facing federal charges of child pornography and other crimes by the US Northern District of Illinois, where he is being held without bail.
