A man from Texas has been sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of murdering his girlfriend due to her decision to have an abortion.
On Tuesday, a jury in Dallas County convicted 23-year-old Harold Thompson for the deadly shooting of 26-year-old Gabriella Gonzalez. The tragic event occurred in May 2023 in a parking lot, where Thompson shot Gonzalez, a mother of three.
Surveillance footage revealed that Thompson initially attempted to put Gonzalez in a chokehold before she managed to break free. He then drew a gun and fired a shot that hit her in the head, continuing to fire several more rounds before fleeing the scene.
Reports indicate that Gonzalez had traveled to Colorado to undergo an abortion, which made Thompson furious, as he believed he was the father of her unborn child.
In March 2023, Gonzalez had reported Thompson for making threats against her family and children, according to court documents. A warrant was issued for his arrest, but he was never apprehended.
