Early Tuesday morning in Kaufman County, officials reported an incident that began along U.S. 175 in the Crandall area.
According to a 6:30 a.m. update from the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, a sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle, which subsequently escalated into a pursuit.The chase concluded in the 1300 block of the U.S. 175 frontage road in Crandall, where the suspect attempted to escape on foot.
During this foot chase, gunfire erupted, resulting in the suspect being struck, according to the sheriff’s office update. The report did not specify who fired the shots. The suspect was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
Fortunately, no officers sustained injuries during the event. Additional details regarding the shooting have not yet been disclosed. Meanwhile, the northbound frontage road of U.S. 175 was closed as authorities conducted their investigation.
