Authorities are currently investigating a tragic discovery involving two deceased individuals found in the landing gear compartment of a JetBlue aircraft.
Flight radar data indicates that JetBlue Flight 1801 took off from Kennedy Airport in New York at 7:49 p.m. on Monday and arrived at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport at 11:10 p.m.
JetBlue has confirmed that the bodies were found during a routine post-landing inspection of the aircraft.
“The circumstances surrounding how they gained access to the aircraft are still under investigation. This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are dedicated to cooperating with authorities to understand how this incident transpired,” stated JetBlue.
Emergency responders and paramedics were on the scene around 11:30 p.m. and declared the two male victims deceased at the location. Authorities have yet to release their identities.
The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct autopsies to establish the causes of death for both individuals. The investigation is ongoing.
