On Sunday President Biden announced that he granted a pardon to his son, Hunter Biden.
Despite previously pledging not to pardon his son, who was convicted in June on three felony charges related to his 2018 purchase of a revolver while struggling with substance addiction. Biden’s decision comes after Hunter also pleaded guilty to nine counts of tax evasion in a separate case in September.
The “Full and Unconditional Pardon” covers any offenses committed by Hunter Biden from January 1, 2014, to December 1, 2024.
Hunter was found guilty in a Delaware jury trial for buying and possessing a firearm while being addicted to drugs. He had also pleaded guilty in California for failing to pay taxes over several years during that same timeframe.
Hunter Biden was scheduled to be sentenced for the firearms charges on December 12 and for the tax evasion charges on December 16.
