379views

A section of the City of Richardson is currently under a boil water notice due to a malfunction in a water tower sensor that occurred Wednesday afternoon.

More than 17,000 residents were affected by the boil water notice.

The affected area is defined by W. Arapaho Road to the north, U.S. 75 to the east, W. Spring Valley Road to the south, and Coit Road to the west.

As a result of the boil water notice, Richardson ISD closed five school campuses on Thursday, including Arapaho Classical Magnet, Dover Elementary, Heights Elementary, Richardson West Junior High, and Richardson High School.

The City of Richardson is distributing cases of bottled water to all residents in the impacted area. Bottled water will be available for pickup at the Heights Recreation Center located at 711 W Arapaho Road until 10 p.m. Thursday. Magner mentioned they are working to secure additional pallets of water for distribution on Friday.
