Four people were killed, including a child, after a private helicopter crashed into a Houston radio tower Sunday night.

The Houston Fire Department reported that the incident occurred around 7:54 p.m. in the Second Ward area, where the helicopter apparently struck a radio tower, causing a fire.

During a press conference, fire officials mentioned that the flames spread for three blocks before being brought under control. Fortunately, nearby businesses were closed at the time of the incident.

Police Chief Diaz stated that it appeared no one on the ground was hurt. He identified the helicopter as a Robinson R44, which had taken off from Ellington Field, although its specific destination was not immediately known.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are currently looking into the crash.
