A 6-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries days after being violently assaulted with a baseball bat during an attack on his family in Connecticut.
On September 25, police reported that Abdulrahim Sulaiman, 38, assaulted the 6-year-old, his 4-year-old sibling, and their 33-year-old mother in their home on Main Street in Bridgeport.
The mother informed police that Sulaiman, who is not the children’s father, attacked her and her children with the baseball bat. When authorities arrived, they discovered the mother and her children with critical injuries; the 6-year-old was unresponsive and had no pulse.
Surveillance footage captured Sulaiman allegedly throwing the baseball bat out of an apartment window before jumping out himself.
A witness identified Sulaiman, leading to his arrest shortly after the incident.
He faces charges of attempted murder, assault, risk of injury to a minor, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Police stated that the charges against him will now be elevated to include murder with special circumstances.
His bond is set at $10 million.
Following the attack, the 6-year-old was declared brain dead. The mother and the 4-year-old have since been discharged from the hospital.
