Officers from the Rockwall Police Department reported that 21-year-old Brian Calder was apprehended on Friday, October 4, for allegedly trying to kidnap a 10-year-old girl.
As outlined in a press release, police responded to calls about a man attempting to abduct the young girl around 12:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of W. Yellow Jacket Lane.
The girl had just exited her school bus and was walking home when several witnesses observed Calder grabbing her by her backpack. Fortunately, she managed to break free.
According to the police, a bystander followed Calder while officers were dispatched to the scene, and they quickly located and arrested him upon arrival.
Calder was taken to the Rockwall County Detention Center, where he was booked and charged with attempted kidnapping.
The Rockwall Police Department stated that the investigation is ongoing.
