Jerry Jones Countersuit Against Alleged Daughter Reaches Speedy Settlement

1.3kviews

On July 23rd, a quick and unexpected settlement was reached between the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones, 81, and his alleged daughter, Alexandra Davis, 27, in a federal Texas court.

Alexandra filed a paternity lawsuit in 2022 to prove Jones was her father. A judge ultimately ordered Jones to take a paternity test in February 2024, which he has not done.

Jones filed a countersuit, alleging that both Alexandra and her mother, Cynthia Davis, breached a contract created in 1998. This 1998 contract required Jones to pay Cynthia $375,000 and put money in a trust for Alexandra until she was 21. Alexandra would also receive lump sums from Jones when she turned 24, 26, and 28 years old. The contract stated that no one was allowed to publicly claim that Jones was Alexandra’s father.

In the countersuit, Jones was seeking sanctions and $1.6 million in attorney fees. Jones has paid more than $3 million to Alexandra through trusts since she was a child.

On the second day of the trial, Alexandra, her mother Cynthia, and Jones had come to a settlement, ending the two-year court battle. Charles Babcock, Jones attorney, states, “They had lunch, just the three of them. And it was resolved right after that.”

This case was expected to last a week and it was resolved 24 hours after it began.

A federal judge announced that this case and all cases related to it were dismissed with prejudice. The details of their settlement on July 23rd haven’t been released.
