A physical altercation inside of an Irving hotel room, in which two women and a man were involved, led to the fatal shooting of a mother of two.

Just prior to 9 p.m., on Friday, Irving authorities answered to a noise disturbance at the Clarion Inn & Suites DFW North in the 4700 block of Plaza Drive. When they arrived to the location, they found 19-year-old Zenri McGee, a mother of two boys, with gunshot injuries.

Breanna Bettis, McGee’s older sister, said that McGee loved having fun with her children, including making dance TikTok recordings with her 3-year-old son Timothy.

However, Bettis is now making plans for her little sister’s funeral.

Authorities say that Cedric Campbell shot McGee who was later pronounced deceased at a medical facility. Campbell was apprehended and then charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Bettis and her sister spent a lot of time together, and she says that her sister loved her two sons, 3-year-old Timothy and 1-year-old Demarco. She added that her children helped give McGee purpose in life.

Bettis has started a GoFundMe to purchase expenses for the funeral and to pay for expenses for her nephews. Additionally, she and her husband have five children of their own, and she will now be responsible to care for McGee’s children, as well.

Bettis has now vowed to ensure that her nephews know about their mother.

“I can show them videos with their mother, pictures with her and her kids. She had a lot of dancing videos with him and videos with De Marco. I can just say your mom loved you dearly, ” Bettis added.
