On Saturday, a young child and two other people were killed as gunfire rang out, close to Birmingham Park in Alabama.
The incident occurred just prior to 5:30 p.m., in the Echo Highlands community.
When authorities arrived to the location, they found that a sedan appeared to have jumped the curb, resting in front of a residence, near the park. Authorities say that bullet holes could been seen throughout the vehicle.
A mother, her young son, and her boyfriend were discovered in the car.
All three were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police say that the young child appeared to be about 7 or 8 years old.
“We believe some sort of interaction took place between the occupants’ of the victims’ vehicle and the occupants’ vehicle,” police added.
Bystanders told authorities that they thought that the assailant or assailants left in another car. Most of the shell casings were discovered in the parking vicinity of the park.
Police are seeking the public’s help to locate the suspect(s) as an investigation continues.
