On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, the Dalworthington Gardens Department of Public safety had gotten information from the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office that threats of violence and death had been made against individuals of a household in Dalworthington Gardens (DWG).

It was also noted that the individual had an active warrant for Assault Serious Bodily Injury Family Violence with Previous Conviction and was said to be armed with several guns. That person also threatened to kill law enforcement officers which led to close patrol of the residence, where officers checked on the location several times per day.

On July 12, at about 2:27 a.m., authorities with the Dalworthington Gardens Police Department of Public Safety were checking on the residence in question when they saw the wanted individual that had made threats against the family and police officers. Police tried to stop the person. However, they did not comply and tried to evade officers in a car. Officers then pursued the vehicle.

The chase went on into the city of Midlothian in Ellis County, where the person struck two patrol cars and fired a gun at officers. Several officers fired back, hitting the person.

Lifesaving-measures were administered, and the person was taken to a medical facility by ambulance where they died from their wounds.

The deceased individual’s name will be released once relatives have been notified.

No one else was hurt in the occurrence, and an investigation is continuing and being conducted by the Texas Rangers.
