Authorities in Greenville, Texas, apprehended a Houston woman after she attempted to shoot a school worker at a high school athletics center.
On Wednesday, two Greenville ISD police cars where stationed outside of Greenville High School’s athletic facility.
This is the location where the district states a now ex-employee, a football assistant coach, was shot at by his former wife, on Tuesday, close to 1:30 p.m.
No students or staff were harmed, and all summer workouts had been completed an hour prior to the occurrence.
“The district shall not tolerate any issues between adults that may cause a safety concern for other employees or students,” stated superintendent Joe Lopez, in regards to the assistant coach who is no longer employed with the district.
Later, Greenville ISD noted that the suspected assailant is Tekeysha Letoya McCloud, 44, of Houston. She has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful carry of a weapon in prohibited places.
Officials with the school district say that the coach was the intended target when McCloud shot her weapon. What caused her to shoot at the man isn’t known at this time.
On Tuesday night, McCloud was taken into custody by district police in the Dallas vicinity. She was later transferred to the Hunt County Jail where she remains with a $105,000 bond.
