After making a surprise visit to Wilmington, North Carolina, where he is from, Michael Jordan held a grand opening for a medical clinic that he has supported with a $10 million donation.
This is the third clinic that Jordan and his mother have opened in the state.
People who are uninsured or underinsured can receive primary healthcare services at the Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic.
“Everyone is worthy of access to quality health care, no matter where you live or if you have insurance,” Jordan said.
As the ribbon-cutting ceremony took place, Jordan teared up, stating how grateful he is that the Charlotte-area community has supported the clinics and have provided quality care to people and families in need.
“When the families are not able to support, we are there to support,” Jordan added.
There are 12 patient rooms located at the Wilmington clinic. They are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
