Aleah Wallace, of Fort Worth, Texas, fatally shot a 14-year-old boy as he attempted to break into her apartment. Now, it has been determined that she will not be charged in the matter.
Jurors in Tarrant County did not discover enough evidence to charge Wallace with an offense; thus, she was no-billed.
“I feel great that they were able to see it through my eyes,” Wallace has reported.
Wallace shot and killed 14-year-old Devin Baker back in December as he was trying to enter her residence through her 8-year-old daughter’s window.
This had occurred shortly after she had contacted authorities because someone else had attempted to break into her residence. This had been the fifth attempted burglary at her residence in just a couple of weeks.
“I want to offer my condolences to his family and thank everyone who helped me and my girls,” Wallace stated.
The mother of the four girls stated that her daughters are now going to counseling every week; however, they are coping.
Following the shooting, Wallace was going to be evicted due to her landlord stating that she was not permitted to have a firearm while residing in government-subsidized housing.
After Lawyer Mark Melton became her defense lawyer on the matter, pro-bono, the eviction case was dismissed.
Many others stood with Wallace, including Central Texas Republican State Rep. Carrie Isaac.
“I want to say thank you so much. We are eternally grateful. We were able to move away from the apartments, so thank you,” Wallace added.
Wallace is now in counseling, as well, and she and her family have moved to another location in Tarrant County.
