An ex-Washington police officer that is said to have killed his former wife and girlfriend is dead.
This comes after a standoff took place in Oregon, and a missing child was found safe and was placed in police custody.
On Monday evening, an Amber Alert was issued from Washington State Patrol. It noted that a man had killed his former wife and girlfriend and had kidnapped his one-year-old child. When the Amber Alert was given, authorities named 39- year-old Elias Huizar as the suspect in question. He was said to have been armed and dangerous and had been wanted.
Huizar is an ex-police officer. He shot himself in the head after the pursuit on I-5.
Before the shooting, authorities stated that Huizar had wrecked and had exchanged gunfire with officers prior to fleeing. He then came to a halt several miles after that, where he wrecked into a commercial vehicle and struck a median.
Law enforcement officers said that Huizar killed a woman near an elementary School on Monday. Then, he left before officers were able to get to the scene. As authorities had been serving a search warrant at his residence, investigators found a second woman’s body at his home. Authorities have not released any more information about the women’s killings including the manner of their deaths.
One-year-old Roman Santos was named as the child who had been missing. He was located in the back seat uninjured and was placed in police custody.
Huizar had worked for the Yakima Police Department from 2013 until he left his position in February of 2022. Reports indicate that he resigned, following being disciplined.
