Over a month ago, a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot in the head.

Now, his father has been taken into custody, authorities in Missouri say.

51-year-old Carl Walker Jr. is facing a charge of second-degree murder after the Jan. 24 shooting and killing of his teenage son, police in St. Louis stated on Wednesday.

Documents show that Walker and his son, Isaiah Walker, were having a personal dispute on Jan. 24., and the pair left together in the father’s car. A little while after that, they were observed walking back toward their residence.

Close to that time, authorities say that Walker fatally shot his son in the head.

The teen was discovered shot in the street and was transported to a medical facility for treatment of life-threatening wounds. He succumbed to his injuries on Jan. 27.

In a GoFundMe, Isaiah was said to be a,” young man who loved football and playing video games.” He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

During the investigation, it was shown that Walker hid a .45 caliber handgun magazine in the garbage, as well as, clothing items. A .45 caliber shell casing was also located at the scene, police say.

Later, Walker confessed to shooting and killing his son. Walker is a convicted felon who is not supposed to have a firearm in his possession.

He has now been charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Walker is being held on a $500,000 cash bond.
