Erik Spoelstra, arguably the best coach in the NBA, signed an 8-year extension contract with the Miami Heat for $120 Million.
Spoelstra, who now holds the record for the largest amount of money ever awarded in NBA history, is recently divorced. In fact, the 53-year-old coach finalized divorce proceedings from his wife of 7 years just weeks before signing the record-breaking contract.
Miami Heat fans have taken to the internet to “troll” on the timeline of the contract extension. Many of them have commented that his ex-wife “fumbled the bag.”
Despite the internet jokes, many coaches and respected NBA players have congratulated Spoelstra on his contract and say that he deserves it.
