On Monday afternoon, around 2 p.m., a daring robbery attempt unfolded at the H-E-B store on 415 North New Braunfels Avenue, in San Antonio Texas. Police Chief William McManus revealed that a man in his 40s tried to rob the store, then fled. Pursued by two security guards into the parking lot, the man sought cover behind a vehicle, firing at the guards and injuring both. In self-defense, the guards retaliated, ultimately fatally shooting the assailant. Witness accounts reported hearing between 13 to 20 gunshots during the incident.
Dya Campos, spokesperson for H-E-B, clarified that the involved security guards were not H-E-B employees but hired from a private security firm. The store decided to remain closed until 8 a.m. on today. Corporate teams were on-site Monday afternoon to meet with employees, and counseling services have been made available to those affected by the traumatic event.
