Walmart Pulls Ads From Social Media Platform X

483views

On Friday, Walmart became one of the latest brands to say that it won’t be advertising on social media platform X.

X, formerly known as Twitter, has had problems keeping advertisers since Elon Musk took over in October 2022. After increasing concerns about anti-Semitic content, many advertisers have dropped the site.

In November, Musk agreed with an X user who inaccurately claimed that some in the Jewish community were “stoking” hatred toward the white community. He even said that the user was speaking “the actual truth.”

The user also discussed the “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory. This states that Jewish people and leftists are behind the ethnic and cultural replacement of white people with non-white immigrants that will result in a “white genocide.”

Musk did apologize for his post on Wednesday but used obscene language when referring to advertisers that halted their ads, accusing them of “blackmail.”

It is said that other major brands such as Apple, Walt Disney, and Warner Bros. have suspended their ads on X, as well, for anti-Semitic comments that were placed next to advertisements.
