Independent Autopsy Contradicts County’s Claim In The Death Of Dexter Wade

On Tuesday, the Jackson, Mississippi, city council expressed their sorrow to the relatives of Dexter Wade. This was for the actions that the city didn’t take following the death of Wade.

In March, 37-year-old Wade was walking close to the highway when he was fatally struck by an off-duty police office operating a Jackson Police Department car. Although his relatives had reported him missing, they hadn’t known what had happened to Wade for months.

Wade was buried in a pauper’s grave and eventually exhumed. An autopsy showed that he had been run over by the car.

However, an independent has now found that a possible cover up may have occured. The pathologist found, after exhuming the body, that a wallet was discovered in his front pocket. It contained identification, noting Wade’s address, a credit card, and a health insurance card.

To add, it seems as though Wade experienced more than just extensive head injuries that was stated in the Hinds County coroner’s report. His left leg had been completely severed, and his entire body appeared to have been completely run over by the vehicle.

What’s more, Wade had “multiple blunt force injuries to the skull, ribs, and pelvis.” The body hadn’t been embalmed and was in an advanced state of decomposition when it was exhumed.

At the same time, the officer that is said to have struck Wade hasn’t been charged in his death. His death was determined to be accidental even though he had extensive head injuries. Authorities didn’t administer a field sobriety test or issue a citation to the driver. The officer’s name hasn’t been released publicly.

Although the mayor has called the incident a tragic accident, lawyers Ben Crump and Al Sharpton have criticized the city for nor completing a full investigation. This includes trying to find all ways possible to contact Wade’s relatives after his death.

Crump and Sharpton are now demanding a federal investigation.
