Two women have reached a $1 million settlement with a Massage Envy franchise in Conroe, Texas, after a male massage therapist sexually assaulted them during their appointments.
53-year-old Jose Franco, the therapist, was apprehended on charges of felony sexual assault. He is now out on bond as his criminal case is continuing.
Documents show that one of the women said that Franco sexually assaulted her as her appointment took place on July 3, 2022. She stated that she was very fearful and couldn’t do anything until the assault was over. Later, she was diagnosed with HSV-1 (herpes) as a result of the assault.
The other woman noted that Franco sexually assaulted her on July 15, 2022, during her session. She added that Franco didn’t use any draping, leading her to feel uncomfortable and exposed improperly.
After these cases were documented, other women came forth with complaints against Franco, as well.
Franco’s case is continuing in the Harris County District Court.
