18 Year DPD Veteran Officer Dies By Suicide Day After Shooting Murder Suspect

An 18 year police veteran, that was involved in the fatal shooting of a murder suspect earlier this week, has taken his own life.

Dallas and Mesquite officers joined forces with members of the U.S. Marshals fugitive task force to serve a murder warrant for 36 year old Corey Thomas, in the 3700 block of S. Tyler Street, Monday morning.

Bacon was one of the four officers that approached Thomas after he allegedly pointed a gun towards police.

Bacon also was one of four officers that discharged their weapons striking and killing Thomas.

Thomas was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. No officers were injured.

On August 8 Officer Bacon took his own life, just a day after the fatal shooting on Tyler Street.

This investigation is ongoing.
