When passengers had already boarded a plane, a Delta Airlines pilot was arrested after arriving to his flight from Scotland to New York City while being intoxicated.

On Friday, Flight DL209 was canceled suddenly when the unidentified 61-year-old pilot was apprehended at Edinburgh Airport.

The pilot is facing charges under the UK’s Railways and Transport Safety Act of 2003. This sets limits on alcohol intake for crew members.

The legal blood-alcohol limit for airline workers is 20 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood. If you are operating a vehicle in Scotland, it is 50 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood.

Delta has validated that one of its employees was apprehended on Friday morning. They apologized to customers and re-accomodated them.

The airline is now working with authorities in the continuous investigation.
