11-year-old Aderrien Murry, of Indianola, Mississippi, was shot by a police officer subsequent to calling authorities for assistance. He is now healing after being released from a medical facility.
Now, relatives of Murry are demanding that the officer involved be terminated and held accountable for his actions.
Early Saturday, Murry had been shot in the chest as officers were answering to a disturbance call at his home.
The child’s mother, Nakala Murry, said that the father of one of her children had come to the residence at 4 a.m., very upset.
After Aderrien had called police, because his mother was concerned, officers arrived at the home with their weapons drawn. They had also asked everyone inside the home to come out.
Aderrien was then been shot as he walked around a hallway corner into the living room.
“I cannot grasp why. The same cop that told him to come out of the house. He did, and he got shot. He kept asking, ‘Why did he shoot me? What did I do wrong?'” his mother said.
In the hospital, Aderrien received a tube in his chest and was put on a ventilator because his lung collapsed. His ribs had also been fractured, and his liver was lacerated. He finally went home on Wednesday.
Authorities have said that two other kids were in the residence when the shooting occurred.
