Security Guard Killed In Dallas While Trying To Stop Carjacker Identified As Adalberto Santiago

Dallas police have identified the security guard that was fatally shot while trying to stop a man from breaking into a car Friday afternoon.

The security guard was identified as 34 year old Adalberto Santiago.

On May 19, officers responded to a shooting/ burglary call on the 8200 block of Westchester a little before 3:30 pm. When they arrived they learned that Santiago was working as security when he approached the suspect trying to break into a vehicle.

The suspect, a black male, and Santiago began fighting before the suspect pulled out a gun, shot Santiago and fled the scene in a gold sedan.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Around 5pm Friday officers spotted the suspects vehicle parked in a parking lot on the 2200 block of N. Cockrell Hill Road but have yet to locate the suspect.
