As children were playing hide and seek outside of his residence, in Starks, Louisiana, 58-year-old David Doyle fired a gun at them. During that time, he wounded a 14-year-old girl.
Early Sunday, the girl was transported to a medical facility after sustaining a gunshot injury to the back of the head. Her wounds were not life-threatening.
Doyle was placed in the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center, and his bond was set at $300,000.
Reports indicate that the day of the incident, multiple children had been playing hide and seek and were on the neighbor’s property. Doyle told investigators that he retrieved his weapon when he witnessed shadows outside his residence. He then fired at individuals that he saw running, not knowing that a bullet struck a girl.
Doyle was then apprehended and charged with aggravated battery, four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and illegal discharge of a firearm.
