33-year-old Lionel Henderson and his ex-girlfriend 29-year-old Tanee Mason, confessed to intentionally selling counterfeit oxycodone pills containing fentanyl. This lead to the death of a 27-year-old man.
Now, Henderson, from Wichita Falls, Texas, has been sentenced to 17 years in federal prison for the 2020 incident.
After a man consumed the pills and lived, he told investigators that he and the victim who died had both taken a part of a pill. They added that more of the pills were at a residence in Oklahoma. Detectives discovered a counterfeit oxycodone pill at the residence.
Later, an undercover agent met up with Henderson and Mason at Mason’s home in Wichita Falls. There, the agent bought five pills that were found to be fentanyl and acetaminophen.
After the home was fully searched, 497 tables of acetaminophen and fentanyl, 1,035 positively-tested, colored ecstasy tablets, and several guns were found. One of the weapons had been reported stolen.
Following a guilty plea of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, Mason will serve 2 years in federal prison.
Court documents show that Henderson revealed that he had been providing fentanyl-laced tablets since the beginning of 2020.
