The head football coach at Rockwall-Heath High School has quit after an investigation into an off-season workout that led to multiple football players being hospitalized.
A message was sent to parents and staff by the district, stating that John Harrell resigned from his position. This comes following a completed independent investigation in regards to the specific workout that occurred in January.
The findings of the investigation showed that the workout regime wasn’t implemented properly. However, the district didn’t provide any other details.
Some parents say that the players were forced to perform hundreds of pushups, leading to rapid muscle breakdown.
For workouts in the future, new suggestions were made. These include more oversight and discussions with consultation specialists.
