Reports indicate that Dwayne Wade’s daughter, 15, has been granted an official name and gender change.
Legal documents show that an L.A. County judge approved the new legal identity for Dwayne’s transgender teen.
The teen’s new name is Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade. The judge also ruled that there can be an official gender change from boy to girl.
For years, Dwayne and his wife, Gabrielle Union, have been using the name Zaya when referring to her. In 2020, the teen came out as trans, and her quest to change her name and gender had started in the courts in August of 2022.
Dwayne Wade’s ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, disagreed over the matter. Dwayne stated that the change is what is best for the teen and criticized Siohvaughn’s negative opinion about the matter, calling it “nonsensical.”
Dwayne has said that the change will allow Zaya to feel better about herself and true to herself.

Just so everyone knows they may have made the Legal change…but the child will be issued what’s called an AMENDED Birth Certificate. The top portion will ALWAYS hold what the ORIGINAL Name & SEX of a person; bottom part will just be the AMENDED changes.
