After being on a journey of finding a new coach, Cedar Hill ISD has chosen Midlothian defensive back coach Nick Ward as the new head football coach at Cedar Hill High School.

Coach Ward took the place of Carlos Lynn, who left the position after a 2-8 season. Ward has been connected to Cedar Hill as he was a part of Carlos Lynn’s staff in 2020 and 2021 and was a coach in the state title game in 2020.

Ward is from Dallas and graduated from Seagoville High School. He then attended the University of Miami and later played alongside Ray Lewis, Reggie Wayne, and Ed Reed while in Miami. Ward was also a part of the Hurricanes track and field team.

The new coach also played in the Arena Football League, was an intern with the Atlanta Falcons, and coached at North Gwinett High School where he coached a Georgia state title game in 2013.

Then, in 2016, Ward went back to Texas and worked at the Cleburne middle school and high school. In 2018, he went to North Mesquite High School and in 2019, he was a defensive assistant at Dallas’ Lincoln High School.

While at Midlothian, Ward was an assistant on defense that helped get the Panthers to a 12-1 winning season.
