18-year-old Devin Wilson, a teen from Baltimore, is facing charges for murdering his 8-year-old brother. Court documents state that he killed his brother with a shotgun that he got after trading in a puppy.
On Tuesday, Wilson was apprehended and charged with first and second-degree murder, assault, and weapons charges in relation to the killing of Dylan King on Dec. 30.
Wilson had been watching his siblings, ages 2 to 8 years old when he contacted his mother, requesting she come home because Dylan had been shot.
When Wilson’s stepfather arrived to the residence, the teen is said to have stated that Dylan had unintentionally shot himself in the head.
When police arrived to the scene, they saw that a neighbor had begun CPR on the 8-year-old boy who was later declared deceased.
While still at the location, an officer stated that he heard crying from an upstairs room and found Wilson inside. He was wearing blood-soaked clothes and was holding a shotgun to his own forehead, documents state.
After officers got Wilson to put down the weapon, he was taken into custody and then to a medical facility for a mental health check.
The medical examiner’s office determined that Dylan’s death was a homicide by one gunshot wound.
Court records show that Dylan’s stepfather told authorities that Wilson had recently become curious about guns and had gone to a gun range for his birthday. He added that Wilson had traded in a puppy to buy the shotgun that was the weapon that killed his brother.
Officials say that the exchange was legal because Wilson is 18 and didn’t have a criminal past when he purchased the Silver Eagle pump action shotgun.
Wilson was jailed without bail. He will appear in court for a hearing on February 15.
Prayers for the family and this young man he will definitely need mental help
