Allen High School Star Quarterback Withdraws From School After Racist Messages Painted On Garage

The parents of Mike Hawkins Jr., one of the top football players in the country who attended Allen High School, have withdrawn him from the school.

This came after a racist message was painted on the family’s residence.

Why the star quarterback’s family was targeted has been concerning.

Hawkins and supporters of the Allen High School Eagles should be celebrating his senior year. He is one of the top 3 quarterbacks in the state. He has already been recruited by schools like OU and Alabama.

However, his family is moving following the incident that occurred on Dec. 28.

“No kid should go through this. No family should go through this, black or white. It just shouldn’t happen,” said Mike Hawkins Sr. He added that someone spray-painted on his garge the words, “we don’t need you in Allen,” followed with a racial slur.

Mike Sr., who is Black, has withdrawn both of his biracial kids, Mike Jr. and Maliek, another player on the team, from Allen High School.

“This ain’t about football. This is about the safety of my family,” he added.

The father says that this isn’t the first time. They have heard slurs at the football games and have gotten racist messages before.

“We are saddened to learn that a family’s home was vandalized with hate speech. Any instance of hate speech, no matter how or where it occurs, goes against the core beliefs of our school district, and it has no place in our community,” Allen ISD noted in a statement.

Hawkins Sr. says it isn’t known who placed the message on his garage, but he hopes they are caught soon.

As for now, he hasn’t determined where his family will be moving to.
