18-year-old Demarkus Hedges, from Cincinnati, has been apprehended for fatally shooting a 16-year-old girl. This occurred in Burlington, Kentucky, on Tuesday morning.

Deputies said that they responded to a call at a residence in the 3000 block of Silver Brooke Drive, at about 2:18 a.m.

They then discovered 16-year-old Scarlett Tucker in a bedroom, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was declared deceased at the location.

Investigators stated that the suspected shooter, Hedges, had left the residence. They added that several witnesses, who were 17-years-old and two 18 year olds, stayed. They had spent Monday evening through Tuesday morning with Tucker and Hedges and had come to the home, where one of the 18 year olds lived, at about 1:30 a.m.

Authorities say that they were told that a bag of marijuana had fallen on the bedroom floor. Hedges then had instructed Tucker to pick it up. When Tucker didn’t do as Hedges had told her, he fired his weapon at her head.

An arrest warrant was issued for Hedges. Following that, he surrendered to the United States Marshals Service in Covington.

He was placed in the Boone County Detention Center on a $1,000,000 bond.
