After a man out on bond for murder was pulled over for speeding on I-95, in Florence County, South Carolina, $9 million of cocaine was discovered.
On Monday, 34-year-old Sheldon Alexander, of Los Angeles, was apprehended and charged with trafficking in cocaine, unlawful carrying of a pistol, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by an illegal alien.
Alexander had been out of jail on bond on a murder charge out of California, authorities say.
When the traffic stop occurred, it was found that Alexander, who is a native of Trinidad, had entered the country illegally.
Deputies found close to 118 pounds of cocaine, almost $182,000 in cash, and a firearm in his vehicle.
Alexander is now being held at the Florence County Detention Center as he waits to have a court appearance.
