Police Officer And Wife Both Diagnosed With Stage-4 Cancer Just Weeks Apart

Just weeks apart, a Los Angeles Police Department officer and his wife were both diagnosed with stage-4 cancer.

Motor Officer Michael Tomelloso and his wife, Laura, both received the devastating news in February 2022. The pair have two children, 14-year-old Mike Jr., and 10-year-old Matthew.

Although it has been difficult, the two have had to deal with constant medical treatments, surgeries, and hospitalizations.

Thus, they have needed the help of friends, neighbors, and church members in order to keep up with their everyday tasks and medical appointments. They also rely on those around them to ensure that their children’s lives are as normal as possible under the circumstances.

Sources report that Matthew is a special needs child and is home-schooled. He is usually involved with horses as a means of therapy. However, since his parents’ health has declined, he can’t participate in the therapy sessions anymore.

On Monday, the LAPD stated that a Blue-Ribbon Trust Fund had been started at Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union on behalf of the Tomelloso family. All the money received will go towards medical expenses, groceries, and food preparation that is in accordance to the couple’s dietary plan.

It will also be used for other expenses that may arise.
