A New York mother was arrested last month after allowing her 10 year old son to get a permanent tattoo.
Crystal Thomas,33 was arrested in October after her son went to the school nurse and asked to use some Vaseline for his tattoo.
The nurse immediately contacted authorities. When asked the child told police he has permission to get the tattoo.
Thomas told authorities she thought it was a temporary tattoo and stated that, “No little child should get tattooed.”
The tattoo was the child’s name in large block letters that were on the inside of his forearm.
Though most states allow children/ teens to receive tattoos with parental consent. New York says the minimum age to receive a tattoo in the state is 18.
Thomas was arrested and charges with endangering the welfare of a child.
The unlicensed tattoo artist, Austin Smith, was also arrested and charged with dealing unlawfully with a child.
When speaking with officers the boy told them that his teacher that he idolized had one and the same spot so he did too.
