1.2kviews

A student at South Vermillion High School, in Clinton, Indiana, was injured when he was shot after a deputy’s gun unintentionally went off in a classroom.

Students had been involved in a law enforcement vocational training by deputies. They were said to have been going through some drills at the time of the shooting.

Following Thursday morning’s shooting, the student was transported to a medical facility with non-life threatening wounds.

The superintendent of South Vermillion Community School Corp., Dave Chapman, stated that the male student is a senior and was grazed by a bullet.

He added that a gun belonging to a Vermillion County Sheriff’s deputy, Tim DisPennett, had discharged accidentally.

The deputy has been in law enforcement for 19 years. He has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
